Cycling routes in Hossegor

Lake loop, coastal path, pine forest — the best cycling routes in and around Hossegor.

Hossegor is as enjoyable on a bike as on a surfboard. The saltwater lake, pine forest and sandy beaches create a unique setting for unforgettable cycling. The paths are flat, well-maintained and accessible to all levels.

Hossegor Lake Loop

Very easy
6 km (loop)

Hossegor's most popular route. The loop around the saltwater lake is entirely flat, shaded by pines and oaks. You pass Art Deco villas on the lakefront, the Landes canal, and restaurant terraces.

Pickle tip: Perfect with children. Also great on a longboard, the surface is impeccable. Allow 30 min cycling gently, 1 hour with stops.

Hossegor – Capbreton via Boudigau

Very easy
5 km one way

The Boudigau canal bridge connects Hossegor to Capbreton in minutes. The path crosses a protected nature area with views of the canal and bird reserve. Arrives directly at Capbreton harbour.

Pickle tip: This is the ride from our Pickle shop. Allow 5 minutes by bike, 10 minutes cruising along the canal.

Hossegor – Seignosse Beaches

Easy
8 km one way

Dedicated bike path from Hossegor to Seignosse beaches (Les Estagnots, Les Bourdaines, Penon). The route runs alongside the pine forest with regular beach access points. Flat terrain, wide path.

Pickle tip: Bring swimsuit and towel — Seignosse beaches are among the finest on the coast. Return via the same route or through the forest.

Pine Forest – Seignosse Lake

Moderate
12 km one way

From Hossegor lake, take the forest trails inland. The paths cross maritime pine forest to the Lac Blanc and Lac Noir of Seignosse. Peaceful atmosphere, far from the summer crowds.

Pickle tip: E-bike recommended for sandy sections — electric assist makes all the difference. Bring water, no supply points in the forest.

Vélodyssée North – to Vieux-Boucau

Moderate
25 km one way

The Vélodyssée (EuroVelo 1) heads north through Europe's largest forest. Possible stops at Seignosse village, Tosse and Vieux-Boucau-les-Bains (beach and lake). Entirely under forest canopy, shaded and pleasant even in peak summer.

Pickle tip: Ideal on an e-bike for a full day out. Return via the same route or by bus (line 14, bikes accepted with conditions).

Hossegor by bike: lake, forest and ocean

Hossegor (Soorts-Hossegor) is one of the finest cycling destinations on the Landes coast. The saltwater lake loop (6 km, flat and shaded) is an absolute classic, but it's just the beginning: cycling paths connect Hossegor to Capbreton, Seignosse and the wider Landes network.

Families particularly enjoy the lake loop and the ride to Capbreton (5 km, flat). More athletic riders prefer the long Vélodyssée stretches to Vieux-Boucau (25 km through forest) or forest trails to the Seignosse lakes.
